The season of wonderful weather and holidays is finally upon us! How can you enjoy your holidays to the max?
Let's check out some tips and advice on how to organise your Ducato-based motorhome for your next summer adventure!
Preparing for your trip in the best possible way doesn’t just mean researching your route, but also paying attention to small details that are easily overlooked, such as the best places to stop, essential maintenance before departing and, last but not least, preparing your baggage. Paying attention to these details will help you avoid wasted time and unpleasant surprises during your holiday.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE Before setting out—but also during the journey—always remember to empty the waste water tanks. Hot weather causes unpleasant odours and creates a favourable environment for pathogens and bacteria.
In addition to cleaning the water tanks of your motorhome, we also recommend that you use descaling liquid for grey water, to prevent unpleasant smells emanating from drains and plugholes, especially if you are travelling in very humid areas.
Cover the windows of your Ducato-based motorhome with light-coloured roller blinds, which will help to reflect the sun’s heat and keep the interior temperature cool.
TYRES AND TREE COVER
Before setting off, and before leaving each rest stop, always make sure that the tyres are in good condition. This is because in summer, especially after long stopovers, the pressure and internal temperature of the tyres can change, increasing the chances of a blowout. Good tyre care is not just a question of safety, but also helps to reduce fuel consumption.
As we already mentioned, in addition to thoroughly planning your route, it is essential to identify suitable parking areas in advance, especially if they are freely accessible and have no campsite facilities. Look for areas with tree cover that provides shade from the sun.
One excellent solution for ventilating the passenger compartment is to open all the windows of your Ducato-based motorhome, so as to create a circulating air current that helps to keep the temperature constant.
FOOD AND BAGGAGE
We advise you to carefully consider the quantity and type of food that you bring on your trip. It is better to buy local fresh produce than to stock up with lots of food from home that you might not even need. That way you can try local specialities and a succession of different dishes depending on where you are!
For this type of holiday, you also don't need to bring your entire wardrobe with you. In the summer, all you need is a few comfortable items of clothing that can be easily washed and reused. So, avoid filling your Ducato-based motorhome with unnecessary clutter that leaves less living space in the passenger compartment.
AND IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING WITH YOUNG CHILDRENTravelling by motorhome enables you to spend lots of quality time with the youngest members of your family. The element of adventure and the prospect of living in a house on wheels and waking up every day in a different place are what make this type of trip so appealing to kids. Depending on your children’s ages, it makes sense to organise and schedule activities for your trip, so as to ensure you have everything under control and to make your holiday even more enjoyable.
It might also be worth setting out at night, not only so your children can sleep on the way, but also to spare them from long daytime traffic queues.
Now that everything is ready, all that remains is for you to don your sunglasses, hit the road and enjoy a wonderful trip on board your Ducato-based motorhome!
