THE PROPOSALS FOR 2025: WHAT’S NEW IN THE WORLD OF DUCATO-BASED MOTORHOMES

PRODUCT

Those who have visited industry trade exhibitions in recent days, such as the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf and the Camper Show in Parma, have been able to observe the many offerings based on the Ducato base. In the world of motorhomes, the late summer exhibitions mark the beginning of the new commercial season, with the presentation of new ranges from all European manufacturers. The year 2025 promises to be particularly full of new developments: some models are already available for immediate delivery from dealers, while others can be ordered with delivery in the early months of 2025. But which Ducato-based motorhomes are setting the trend?

The popularity of camper vans, the converted vans admired for their automotive look, manoeuvrability, and the sense of freedom they convey, continues to thrive. In addition to the classic vans built on the mid-height Ducato H2 base, there are several high-roof H3 van options that offer more interior space, often used to create a front drop-down bed. Increasingly, there are also vans with variable-height load compartments located under the rear bed. To expand the living space while parked, adding two additional sleeping places, many mid-height Ducato vans can be equipped with a pop-up roof with canvas walls.

There is certainly a strong public demand for “small” motorhomes, prompting various brands to expand their ranges with compact semi-integrated models. These are not only shorter than the average motorhome but also narrower. They are easier to drive and park than traditional motorhomes, while still offering more interior space.

However, the standard-width semi-integrated models (around 230-235 cm) showcase the greatest variety of lengths and living layouts. Indeed, there are models with spacious sleeping areas featuring either a central double bed or side twin beds, while the bathroom may include a rotating wall (to save space) or a shower well-separated from the toilet area (when there is plenty of space). There are also shorter semi-integrated models that forego the fixed rear bed, replacing it with a front drop-down bed to allow for a larger bathroom and more wardrobe space at the rear.

The most prestigious and spacious models remain the "integrated" motorhomes, where the cab is fully incorporated into the living volume. These are built on the "scudato" version of the Ducato, a motorised chassis without a cab. Meanwhile, the so-called overcab models, with a protruding section above the cab, hold the record for the number of sleeping spaces, offering up to eight beds.

Today, those in search of a motorhome will find an extraordinary variety of Ducato-based options, with a wide range of types, sizes, and living layouts to choose from.
