TRAVELLING NATURE’S WAY: WHAT NOT TO FORGET BEFORE GOING TO PLACES WHERE GREEN REIGNS SUPREME. LET’S FIND OUT TOGETHER!

TRAVELLING BY MOTORHOME

The trees, the sound of distant streams, the countless stars in the sky and that feeling of freedom beyond comparison: adventuring with our Fiat Ducato-based motorhome in landscapes immersed in the wildest natural terrain is one of those experiences that you need to do at least once in your life, but preferably much more!

There are few places where your motorhome cannot go, even just for one night, to enjoy a short break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But whilst it is true that no adventure would be complete without a bit of wilderness, it is also sensible to prepare thoroughly for any eventuality. So, here are some useful tips and hints that will allow you to make the most of your next nature road trip.

Got it, need it

A bit like children swapping stickers and haggling over the last missing footballers for their album, it is always advisable to prepare a checklist to ensure you are fully kitted out before departing.

So what do you need to bring? What could you do without?

When we immerse ourselves in nature, one of the very first things we need is a good old paper map.

Whether it’s on our smartphone or integrated into the infotainment system of our Fiat Ducato-based motorhome, we all have access to map-viewing apps. But they are useless in places with patchy or non-existent Internet connectivity! So it makes sense to equip yourself with a map of the area where you will be exploring, as you never know when it might come in useful. Whilst getting lost can be a good way to discover wonderful places, you’ll need to know the way back in case of emergencies.

Besides maps, other useful tools including torches, power banks and first aid kits (ideally one that includes insect repellent) may prove invaluable when you find yourself walking through woods in search of the ideal spot for a picnic or the perfect photo.

A patio made in heaven

Let's face it: if we decide to go on a nature trip on board our Fiat Ducato-based motorhome, we’ll be spending much more time outdoors than inside the cabin! A good set of outdoor equipment will allow us to enjoy every moment to the fullest.

Must-have items include folding chairs, a cover in case it rains, a BBQ (if lighting fires is permitted in your stopover location), a mat under the door to keep out dirt and leaves, and even a curtain or screen in the doorway to prevent unwanted insects getting inside.
But there are other easy and simple ways to enhance the outdoor ambiance, especially if you are travelling with your better half! So, equip yourself with candles, which always help to set the scene and won't scare away any inquisitive wildlife (animal-lovers take note), a Bluetooth speaker to play soothing music during dinner and—why not?—that book you always wanted to read but never find the time to start: reading amongst the trees with the rustle of foliage in the background is just one of the experiences you can look forward to in your Fiat Ducato motorhome.

Last tips: let's go!

You’ve chosen the destination, your checklist is all ticked off and now you're ready to depart. But wait — are you sure you remembered everything?

Unlike regular road trips, nature trips also require suitable outdoor wear, comfortable shoes that you don’t mind ruining on long walks, hats to protect from the summer sun and even thick clothing that enable you to stay outdoors even in the colder months! Finally, of course, if you can equip your Fiat Ducato-based motorhome with mosquito nets, you will save yourself lots of sleepless nights swatting away all kinds of bugs: after all, it’s worth remembering that outside of the city, nature reigns supreme in all its forms. Happy travels aboard your Ducato motorhome!
