The next vacation in the company of your Fiat Ducato-based motorhome could be a low-cost trip: here are 5 practical tips to cut down travel expenses!
Your campervan is already ready for the next itinerary, you’ve already chosen the next destinations but... are you sure you have thought of everything?
Improve the organisation of your Ducato Motorhome holiday, and keep some practical tips in mind in order to enjoy the journey even with a reduced budget.
1. BOOK REALLY FAR AHEAD
Normally, when organising a campervan trip, people think they can make their reservations at the last minute, and so postpone the fateful choices until only a few days before departure. That can be fine, but only if you have no budget restrictions!
You can take advantage of the best offers only if you book well in advance! You should start planning your itinerary 2-3 months before the start of the holiday. You’ll have plenty of time to choose the most convenient parking areas and avoid the stress of last minute bookings. If you anticipate your choice of stops, you won’t have to worry about unexpected events: you can set off without having to worry about anything and really concentrate only on your adventure!
2. ASK THE CAMPING COMMUNITY FOR ADVICE
The community of campers is active worldwide! Before setting off, check with experienced motorhome travellers on the many official online blogs.
They can advise you on destinations and stops and offer many useful suggestions that will help you enjoy your holiday and begin learning about the places you’re going before you start your engine.
So... don’t be shy, and take some notes! Who better than someone who has already visited and camped in the country you wish to visit, can explain the pros and cons of campsites, rest areas or shopping facilities?
3. BRING ONLY INDISPENSABLE ITEMS
It should be obvious, but remember: even if you’re setting off on a long journey, you don’t have to bring your entire wardrobe and pantry in the campervan.
The first imperative? Check your motorhome and make sure that winter sports equipment from last Christmas has not been left on board. They will hardly be needed if you’re about to embark on a journey to the most beautiful beaches in Spain!
Once you have finished checking on board, begin to draw up your official list: your motorhome must not become a cluttered home... it’s a living area, not a delivery van, and you can always buy utensils, food and other needs during the journey.
The second imperative? Reduce weight!
Why? Because the more weight you carry, the higher your fuel consumption! You can start by reducing your fuel tank liquids. Don't worry... you can refill it in a service area further on!
4. CHOOSE THE MOST ECONOMIC FUEL
Did someone mention fuel?
If you are going on a low budget holiday, you must find out about fuel prices well in advance!
Your search must begin at least a few weeks before the start of the holiday: find the places where you can save the most on fuel and keep them in mind during the journey.
5. AVOID FINES: CHECK THE MOTORING CODE!
Don't think you are immune to heavy fines just because you’ve come from another country!
Road codes may change depending on rules that are different for each country.
Before leaving you need to remind yourself about the main regulations in force where you’re going: take note of the speed limits and any additional information on the types of roads you’ll be using. Just take a little more care, to avoid paying unnecessary extra costs!
Don’t go unprepared, and remember the most important rule: savour and celebrate the journey in your Ducato-based motorhome!
